I'm a civil drafter who kept running into parts that didn't exist, so I started designing and printing them. One full build a month — CAD to finished object, including everything that went wrong on the way.

Three failed prints, one working part

The mount I needed is discontinued and the aftermarket one is junk. So I measured the original, modelled it, and got it wrong twice before the third revision seated properly. Full CAD walkthrough, print settings, and the STL is free below.

Rule 01

The failure stays in

Every build here went wrong at least once. Cutting that out would make the video shorter and the information useless.

Rule 02

Real numbers, every time

Actual cost, actual hours, actual tolerances. No "under $50" when it was $87 and a weekend.

Rule 03

You get the files

If I model a part on camera, the file is downloadable. Most of them cost nothing.
